Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Hawaii November 2009 Newsletter by,
Kaye Walsh, President Hawaii Pet Film Festival
and Holiday Gift Show - Saturday, November 14, 2009 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM This
is going to be a great annual event and we need some more volunteers
to come and spend some time in our booth with their Cavaliers. We are covered
until 1:30 PM but we need volunteers for the afternoon. If you can spare
just an hour it would really help and you and your Cavalier will really have a
good time greeting visitors. You know you want to go anyway since it's one of
the few places you can take your dog with you to go Holiday shopping, so why not
come be in the booth with us. Send me an email or call me at home. Need
new Cavalier pictures Please
send me your favorite picture of you and your Cavalier (or just your Cavalier if
you are too shy). Our old picture board is worn and the pictures faded. We have
had quite a few new members and new Cavaliers so I would like to make up a new
Cavalier Ohana board which we could use for this event as well as Pet Expo in
the spring. Either email me at my regular address or send a hard copy to PO Box
628, Kaaawa, HI 96730. Halloween Party Great
Success The weather was perfect, the food was delicious and the Cavaliers had such a great time in their costumes and playing the games (I think their families did too because there were a LOT of smiles and laughter evident). There were 68 people and 46 Cavaliers in attendance, now what could be more fun than that! We are so grateful to the Dailey family for sharing their lovely home so those Cavaliers could run free and have such a good time together. The games were really fun and we had clear winners in the Bobbing for Hot Dogs, the Kissing Contest and the Race to Owner (that dog can run!) 3rd Annual Christmas Cookie
Exchange and Walk at the Park - Saturday, December 5, 2009 11:00 AM to
4:00 PM Be
sure to put this date on your calendar as this has turned out to be a great
event each year. The marathon is the following week, so it promises to be a
quiet day at the park. Each family brings three dozen cookies to share and takes
home at least that many. We always have SO MANY cookies! We have some social
time and afterwards we take a walk around the park with our Cavaliers in their
Christmas finery which always brings smiles to everyone who sees them. I have
some really nice Christmas Cavalier themed door prizes as well. In
addition, there will be a terrific treat, NEW PUPPIES, at the party. Gerald
and Joanne have a new litter, born October 3, from their Champion
Cavalier, Hokulani and Colin, a Champion and last year's Cavalier of the Year.
Some of them will soon be looking for new families. This litter of puppies are
Blenheim and Tri and we are all keeping our fingers crossed, hoping for some
show quality puppies out of this mating. If you are seriously interested please
contact Gerald 221-1758 or Joanne 221-5244 in the evening after 5:00 PM as they
will be setting up appointments to view the puppies after they have been
evaluated around Nov. 28. Hawaii Kai Dog Park Sunday,
November 1, 2009 at Noon For those of you who live in the vicinity of the new dog park please remember that there are members who get together on the first Sunday of each month at noon and this is the weekend. If you are interested in getting on that email list please contact Kap Richards at kapr@hawaii.rr.com. |
