Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Hawaii March 2010 Newsletter by,
Kaye Walsh, President
The weather is starting to get better, so let's have some fun with those Cavaliers! Club Member Dues for 2010 Since we have a little cushion in our bank account 2010 dues are reduced to $ 15 per adult, still $5 for each junior. Some of you sent checks for $25 already, so you will be credited the balance for 2011 dues. Please send checks c/o the Club, to PO Box 628, Kaaawa, HI 96730.Saturday,
April 10 - Take a walk on the wild side at Kualoa Ranch Our small country school, Kaaawa Elementary, is sponsoring a "5K Family Fun Run" on Saturday, April 10 starting about 8:00 AM, finish around 10 AM or so - checkin starts at 7:00 AM. This is a fund raiser for the school and I requested permission, which was kindly given by the Ranch, to allow our Cavaliers to participate. If you have never been walking or hiking in the valley at the Ranch out here in Kaaawa it is a great experience not to be missed. Quite a bit of "Lost" has been filmed there as well many films. I am told there will be some great photo opportunities. The fee is $15 per adult and $10 per child and each participant will receive a Fun Run printed T-shirt and bottled water. Needless to say, no running is required if you don't wish to, it's just to be in the great outdoors in a beautiful place that isn't usually open to the public, ESPECIALLY with dogs. If you would like to participate, please send me a return email as soon as possible and I will send you the signup sheet by email which you can mail directly to the school with your check. We need to have them in next week. Sunday, April 11 - Hawaii Kai Dog Park Group The next date for the Hawaii Kai Dog Park Group is April 11 at noon. Generally it is the first Sunday of the month, but that weekend is Easter so it has been postponed. If you haven't gone before and it is convenient for you, please join them. May 8 and 9 - Pet Expo at the Blaisedell It's time for Pet Expo again, 10 to 4 , Saturday and Sunday, May 8 and 9. We always have a good time showing off those beautiful Cavaliers. I have refurbished our "crown" and the picture board to use again this year and we are looking for volunteers for a two hour shift on each of those days. Please participate and teach our booth guests about our wonderful breed, get together with your Cavalier friends and have some fun. Send me a email if you can participate and let me know what time would be good for you, how many people and how many Cavaliers you will bring. It's always good to have at least three people and three Cavaliers on the "bench" as our booth is always VERY popular. Very few dogs are actually available for guests to touch and ours love the attention. |
