Information for Saturday, April 10 - Fun Run at Kualoa Ranch For those of you participating in the Kaaawa Elementary School Fun "Run" on Saturday morning, please be sure to follow the road signs to the parking area. We will be leaving from the "surf spot" just down the highway from the official entrance to the Ranch. We are NOT meeting at the main ranch building. Just continue past the main entrance on Kamehameha Highway just around the bend and you will see an entry gate. Checkin starts at 7:00 AM and the "Run" starts at 8:00 AM. Needless to say, most of us with our Cavaliers won't be running, just enjoying the beautiful surroundings in a place not usually open to the public.
Hawaii Kai Dog Park - Sunday, April 11 The monthly playtime for Cavaliers is the second Sunday this month due to Easter. This is a great time for those in town to get together.
Tropical Toy Fanciers Dog Show - Sunday, April 11 - Thomas Square Windward Hawaiian Dog Fanciers Association - Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 Several of our members will be showing their Cavaliers at these shows and you are very welcome to come and cheer on your favorite. Cavaliers will be in the ring in the group that starts at 9:00 AM for Tropical Toy. I don't have the times yet for the Windward shows but will post them on the website as soon as possible.
Pet Expo - LOOK WHO IS IN THE AD FOR THIS YEAR'S PET EXPO !!!!! This ad was captured from Hawaii Pet Magazine online and the same is most likely in the print copy. I've been saying for years that our booth is one of the most popular because our Cavaliers are "benched" and the visitors to our booth can interact with them. As you can see, the organizers must agree. If your Cavalier is one of the ones in the ad, please send me an email, tell me where they are in the picture, so I can put names with their cute little faces for our records.
Please consider helping with our booth and volunteering for a two hour shift. We still need quite a few people for both some Saturday and Sunday time slots. If you can help, send me an email and let me know what time would work for you. It really is an enjoyable event. It's great fun to walk around and see the booths and after all, how many indoor places and events are there that you can take your Cavalier with you and they can be the star.
Please read As a reminder to us all, things are not always what they seem. I cut the following information from the Sunday Honolulu Advertiser:
NOT DOG DOLLARS Percentage of American who wrongly believe the Humane Society of the United States is an "umbrella group" for America's local humane societies, according to Center for Consumer Freedom: 71%
Percentage who falsely believe the Humane Society of the United States "contributes most of its money" to local organizations that care for cats and dogs: 59%
According to its federal income tax filing for 2008, percentage of the Humane Society of the United States' budget that went to grants to pet shelters: 0.5% |
