Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Hawaii

February, 2008

Along with many of you, we watched the Westminster show on television last week, but if you want to enjoy watching the 2007 Cavalier judging, click http://www.westminsterkennelclub.org/videos/largeplayer07.html?xml=wkc2007.xml&video=toy|ckcs

It goes for quite a long time and you will see all the entries on the bench and around the ring. The 2006 judging video is also on the site now. Oh the grooming time that goes into those beautiful show dogs! The 2008 judging video will show up eventually on the Westminster website.

Put the Hawaiian Kennel Club shows, Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2 on your calendar at the Blaisdell.  Here are the approximate Ring times for the Cavaliers. Tropical Toy and Windward are also coming up in the next few months, so keep checking the website and we will post information as we get it.

We are looking for ideas and suggestions from the members about what you would like to do this year. PLEASE let us hear from you. Many of our members enjoyed the hikes last year and we welcome any suggestions members might have for hiking spots suitable for our Cavaliers. I believe we all thought that Pet Expo was a lot of fun last year and would like to participate again. We will be looking for members to spend an hour or two in the booth with your Cavalier. We gained many new members from Pet Expo last year, people who didn't know about the Club and people who didn't know about Cavaliers! Our picnic/potlucks are always a great hit and we would like any ideas that any of you might have about where we could hold them. We will try to have two again this year, with the second one being another Halloween Costume Party and Annual Meeting.

We would also like suggestions on speakers for our events. One member now has three Cavaliers on three different diets and she has suggested a Nutritionist.

Our website could be a useful tool for members in their searches for good vets, including specialists such as canine dentists, ophthalmologists, etc., good boarding kennels, housesitters and the like and we would like to start a section with this kind of information. If you have had good experiences with any of these, please send me an email and tell me about it. We can put websites up, or just names and addresses.

We are also always looking for new Cavaliers to spotlight on our website as Cavalier of the Month. Go to our website to see the past pictures and send pictures and little story about your Cavalier to our Webmaster Jim Arcate

Last, for those who haven't already sent in your 2008 dues, they are still $25 per adult and $5 for junior members. Make your check payable to the CKCS Club and send to the Club at  PO Box 628, Kaaawa, HI 96730
